American craft beers in cask-conditioned form will be one of the highlights at the 2015 Great Brtish Beer Festival, to be staged at London Olympa from 11-15 August. The festival, which attracts up to 55,000 people, will also feature 900 real ales from around the UK, along with the announcement of the annual Champion Beer of Britain awards

Just a few months after opening, Bradford Brewery has scooped the top award of New Business of the Year in the annual Bradford Means Business competition sponsored by the local Telegraph & Argus newspaper. Brewery managing director Matthew Halliday is seen picking up his award.

Rob and Jo Theakston have launched a new hoppy, golden pale ale, Hoptacular, at their brewery in Masham, North Yorkshire. Four hops are used to give the 3.6% beer a big bitter and fruity appeal, with much of the character coming from fermentation in traditional "Yorkshire Squares"

Pugnacious Scottish brewer BrewDog will invest $30 million in a brewery in the United States, due to open in August 2016. The brewery, along with a tap room and visitor centre, will be based in Canal Winchester in the region of Columbus, Ohio. The brewery will act as the spur for BrewDog's exports. The Montagues and the Capulets will be loving, fighting and dying in pub gardens in August and September as Fullers' joins forces with the Permanently Bard group of travelling actors to stage Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Reg Drury, former Fuller's head brewer, who has died aged 76, was a passionate supporter of cask-conditioned 'real ale'. In the 1970s, with giant brewers developing keg beers, Reg saved Fuller's cask brands by improving their quality while brewing them in new-style conical fermenters. Beers such as ESB went on to win multiple prizes in beer competitions

Four students from the brewing and distilling course at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh have made a deep bow in the direction of Extra Special Bitter by producinga version that stresses the style's roots in both Britain and the United States. The Sailor Boy pub in Hitchin, Herts, has been gutted by fire. The former Enterprise Inns pub had stood empty for several months following a ruling by the local council that it could be turned into a convenience store. Campaigners say the Walsworth area of Hitchin now has no pubs and people will have to travel in to the town centre for a drink
