Beer from a new brewery in Hertfordshire has become a cult drink in the restaurants run by Andrei Lussmann. 3 Brewers' Classic English Ale is so popular with diners that Andrei and his head chef Richard Cramer are planning beer-and-food matching menus. Marston's, one of Britain's leading brewing groups, says sales of Premium Bottled Ales are growing at such a pace that the sector will be worth £1 billion a year by 2010. Innovation in the sector appeals to drinkers, according to Marston's, with gold and blond beers attracting most attention. But the main driver is Hobgoblin, which grew sales by 20% over the past 12 months

Craft beers head for Booths summer fest
North-west supermarket group Booths has commissioned special beers from craft brewers in the region for an in-store festival of beer and cider this summer. Top chefs launch own beer to match food
Two of Yorkshire's top pub chefs, James Mackenzie (left) of the Pipe & Glass and Andrew Pern of the Star, have pooled their love of beer and food to launch a honey beer specially designed to match their dishes. And in Acton in London an old coaching inn has had a brewery installed where the beers are used as companions for food
