Hogs Back IPA goes back to English roots
Fast-growing independent brewery Hogs Back in Surrey has launched an IPA, Hopping Hog -- its first ale in keg format. It will also be available in cask and bottle. Brewery owner Rupert Thompson says Hopping Hog is a traditional English version of IPA while he acknowledges that American craft brewers have helped revive the style world-wide with their passion for the beer

Hat trick for U.S. brewer in world awards

Revived DBA takes Burton by storm
Draught Burton Ale is back -- and it was the great talking point of the Burton beer festival. Three CAMRA members from Derby (left to right) Les Baynton, Dave Evans and John Arguile, encouraged Burton Bridge Brewery to produce a few batches of the beer for the festival but now 16 pubs in Burton and Derby are taking it. The big question is: will Carlsberg agree to hand over the brand name and trademarks so it can be a regular Burton brew again?

E-learning gives big boost for cask beer
Cask Matters, supported by brewers, pub companies and consumer groups, has launched an e-learning scheme to train bar staff in best practice for storing and serving cask beer. The programme is based on a series of short films (clip shown here) that covers all aspects of cellar and bar work.

Appliance of science boosts British barley
Crisp Malting Group has used British Science Week to take the art of growing grain and turning barley into malt to school children. Young students at Portgordon Primary School in Moray, Scotland, were taken on the journey that leads from barley field to maltings by Richard Lake and Rebecca Gee of Crisps -- and the children were given malted bread at the end of the lessons as a treat.

New American hop graces Duvel Tripel
The 2015 vintage of the limited edition Duvel Tripel Hop features a new American variety, Equinox, that comes from the same Pacific North-west hop farms that created Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe. Duvel Tripel Hop is a stronger version of the famous Belgian golden ale and has become an annual treat as a result of beer lovers lobbying the Duvel-Moortgat brewery
