Community action saves London music pub
The Ivy House in Nunhead, south London, which has featured such music stars as Elvis Costello and Joe Strummer, has been saved by local people after giant pub company Enterprise Inns sold it. An action group got backing from English Heritage, which listed the building, and financial support from the Architectural Heritage Fund

Old Cornish stout to celebrate St Patrick's
Roger Ryman, head brewer at St Austell Brewery, has launched a special stout for Ireland's national holiday, using a recipe from 1913 discovered in old leather-bound books at the Cornish company. The beer will help cement the strong Celtic links between Cornwall and Ireland
