Festival to showcase London beer revival

The London Drinker Festival, organised by the North London branch of CAMRA, 6-8 March at King's Cross, will turn the spotlight on the remarkable renaissance of brewing in the capital, including Duncan Sambrook's Battersea brewery (left). Record turnout in world beer awards

1,000 beers from 45 countries were judged at the International Beer Awards in Burton-on-Trent. Classes included lager, keg and cask ale and ranged from pale gold to jet black. Elgood's Brewery in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire -- run by three sisters (left to right) Claire Simpson, Belinda Sutton and Jennifer Everall, all Elgoods -- won Gold for their Black Dog Mild Ale
