City of Ale organisers are delighted that they have been awarded a grant of over £5000 by Norwich Business Improvement District (BID) to promote this year's City of Ale to a national audience of real ale lovers. Full page advertisements will be taken in 14 separate CAMRA regional publications including London, Sheffield, Nottingham, Leeds, Doncaster, Derby and Peterborough plus a half-‐page advert in CAMRA's April edition of What's Brewing to raise awareness of City of Ale.
"This is a fantastic opportunity to get the good news about Norwich City of Ale out to a
key stakeholder community -‐ more than a quarter of a million CAMRA members and real ale
lovers!" says Dawn Leeder, Co-‐Chair of City of Ale. "We're delighted that Norwich BID has
seen fit to grant us this funding and we will use it to attract new footfall into Norwich pubs and
other outlets throughout the fine city and to further strengthen Norwich's reputation as the UK
City of Ale".
Stefan Gurney, Executive Director, Norwich BID, says, “Norwich City of Ale, now in its 3rd
year, helps to promote the celebration of city pubs, local breweries and real ale throughout Norwich city centre which slots very well into the major festivals in the City. This festival
helps the leisure sector increase customer and visitor numbers whilst growing the overall
vibrancy of the city as a destination and keeping Norwich as the nationally recognised city
of ale”.
Norwich City of Ale runs from 23 May -‐ 2 June 2013. It's a city-‐widecelebration of local
pubs serving local real ales made by local brewers.Last year 45 pubs and 35 breweries took
part and organisers are hoping it will be even bigger and better this year. The next open
meeting is on Monday 25 February at 10am at the Red Lion, Bishopgate. All are welcome.
