News from the West: Cornish brewers, awards for Star Inn, Bristol goes Bavarian
Brewers in Cornwall have formed an an alliance to boost their sales beyond the West Country. One members of the new alliance, Penzance Brewing, has won two awards -- one for its pub, the Star Inn at Crowlas, the second for its golden ale, Trink. Peter Elvin, brewer and pub owners, is seen with Emma Blewett, a member of the bar team at the Star. And Bristolians will be oompahing for joy when a Bavarian Beer House opens in the city

Baltic Porter celebrates the Little Mermaid and will remain drinkable for 100 years
A special Baltic Porter has been brewed by Carlsberg in Copenhagen to mark the 100th anniversary of the donation of the Little Mermaid statue to the city by the brewery's founder Carl Jacobsen. Small brewery wins two major awards
Buntingford Brewery in Hertfordshire picked up two prestigious awards at the Great British Beer Festival, including a Gold award for its Twitchell Bitter. Brewster Catherine Murphy (pictured) is likely to be brewing bigger volumes on a farm where conservation is a major consideration

Prize vintage ale from the cask at beer fest
Fuller's of Chiswick, West London, will have a special treat for visitors to the Great British Beer Festival next week -- the 2013 Vintage Ale in cask-conditioned form. The beer is usually only sold in bottle-conditioned form and drinkers at the festival at London Olympia will be able to check the unique aromas and flavours from the cask
