Beer stars head for BBC's food bonanza
Beer writers and campaigners Christine Cryne, Jeff Evans and Roger Protz will star at the BBC's food and drink bonanza at Birmingham's NEC from 27 November to 1 December. Jeff and Roger will present bottled and draught beers from their books while Christine will match beers with desserts suitable for Christmas

Cornwall bristling with anticipation for St Austell's Movember Celtic beer festival
Andy Kennedy and Rob Orton of St Austell brewery have grown luxurious upper-lip adornments to promote Movember, the charity event that raises awareness of male cancer. And they have brewed a special beer for the occasion that will be unveiled at the Celtic Beer Festival at the brewery

Czech Panther leaps in to Britain
A new beer from Czech brewer Budweiser Budvar -- Pardal -- has arrived in British pubs and supermarkets. The name means "panther" and the beer has been developed by consumers who joined tasting panels at the brewery. The drinkers said they wanted a beer of modest strength but with good hop character.

Falling number of monks threat to Belgian Trappist brewery -- but in U.S. brothers launch a heavenly beer in Massachusetts
The future of the Trappist brewery at the Achel monastery in Belgium (pictured) is in doubt as only six elderly monks are left to run church and brewery. But in Massachusetts, monks at the abbey of St Joseph have launched their own beer and will win the coveted authentic Trappist symbol

As the leaves fall, breweries launch a warming range of autumn & Xmas ales
Thornbridge, Thwaites and Box Steam breweries have launched a range of beers for the autumn season. They include an imperial stout that's the result of a collaborative brew between Jessica Heidrich of St Eriks Bryggeri in Sweden and Rob Lovatt, head brewer at Thornbridge (pictured). Thwaites' beers include two that are heavily hopped with American varieties while Box Steam has launched a strong Porter to mark the final steam loco commissioned by British Rail

Sharp's man takes control at Molson Coors
It's a life of trains, planes and cars for Stuart Howe, former head brewer at Sharp's in Cornwall. He's now in charge of Molson Coors' craft brewing operations and will oversee production at Worthington's Brewery in Burton-on-Trent and a new site being built in Cork, Ireland, for the expanded Franciscan Well brewery. Budvar hails 'historic trademark victory' as Italian court slams global giant AB InBev
The Czech brewer Budweiser Budvar has won a significant trademark battle with arch rival AB InBev -- owners of American Budweiser, with the Italian Supreme Court ruling that the American beer cannot be under the full name Jiri Bocek, Budvar's manager (pictured), has declared the ruling "a great victory" while its legal expert says it could have wider implications for consumers
