Boost for Truman's with major investment

Truman's, the revived East London brewery, is planning a major expansion at its Hackney Wick site with a half-million pounds investment. The brewery opened in 2013, restoring the name of the famous Whitechapel brewery that closed during the period of mergia mania at the end of the 20th century. 'Sally' triumphs in top pub awards

Former City of London trading analyst Peter Tiley, who had never pulled a pint before, has walked away with the national Pub of the Year award from CAMRA -- the Campaign for Real Ale -- at the Salutation Inn in the village of Ham in Gloucestershire. The pub is known locally as "the Sally" and impressed the judges with its range of real ales, ciders and perries -- and the warm welcome from Peter and Claire Tiley and their staff

Yorkshire Porter triumphs again

It's a hat trick of victories for Elland 1872 Porter, which has triumphed at the CAMRA National Winter Ales Festival in Derby. Judged against a range of old ales, stouts, strong mild and barley wines, the porter -- based on an authentic Victorian recipe -- was judged Champion Winter Beer of Britain by a panel of expert judges. Burton Ale hits the comeback trail

Burton Bridge Brewery is bringing Draught Burton Ale back to its home town when a batch is brewed on 4 March. The beer was axed by Carlsberg in January but now Bruce Wilkinson and Geoff Mumford -- who first brewed DBA at Ind Coope in the 1970s -- will launch the beer at the Burton beer festival on 26 March

Scots brewers unite to boost their beer

In a bid to further sales and interests of Scottish beer, eight independent brewers have joined forces to form The Brewers' Association of Scotland. They hope to draw in other craft breweries to expand sales nationally and globally. Beer Lovers bring back famous Bass stout

Three drinkers in Derby -- John Arguile, Dave Evans and Les Baynton -- have pooled their resources to launch Beer Lovers and plan to recreate old beer styles. They have got off to a flying start with Bass P2 Imperial Stout, produced by former Bass brewer Steve Wellington. Two casks of the beer were drained dry in Derby pubs and now the Beer Lovers are planning their next revival. London pub welcomes homeless at Xmas

Christmas arrived early in Islington, North London, on Sunday 21 December when the William IV pub laid on a special meal for the homeless and those struggling financially. 400 meals were served and vegetables for the occasion were donated by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver.
