Czech Panther leaps in to Britain
A new beer from Czech brewer Budweiser Budvar -- Pardal -- has arrived in British pubs and supermarkets. The name means "panther" and the beer has been developed by consumers who joined tasting panels at the brewery. The drinkers said they wanted a beer of modest strength but with good hop character.

As the leaves fall, breweries launch a warming range of autumn & Xmas ales
Thornbridge, Thwaites and Box Steam breweries have launched a range of beers for the autumn season. They include an imperial stout that's the result of a collaborative brew between Jessica Heidrich of St Eriks Bryggeri in Sweden and Rob Lovatt, head brewer at Thornbridge (pictured). Thwaites' beers include two that are heavily hopped with American varieties while Box Steam has launched a strong Porter to mark the final steam loco commissioned by British Rail

The Czech brewer Budweiser Budvar has won a significant trademark battle with arch rival AB InBev -- owners of American Budweiser, with the Italian Supreme Court ruling that the American beer cannot be under the full name Jiri Bocek, Budvar's manager (pictured), has declared the ruling "a great victory" while its legal expert says it could have wider implications for consumers

From Elland and back: classic porter picks up two top awards in beer competitions
A beer based on a genuine Victorian recipe can't stop winning awards. Elland 1872 Porter was named Champion Winter Beer of Britain in January and crowned that achievement by walking off with the title of Champion Beer of Britain in August.
