Greene King has launched a special beer to commemorate football legend Bobby Moore, who captained the England team in 1966 that won the World Cup. The beer is 4.2% to mark the score in the final match against West Germany -- and the ball did cross the line!

Scottish brewer Innis & Gunn, famous for its oak-aged beers, has placed a bottle of its strong, bottle-conditioned Vintage Ale in a time capsule for drinking in 100 years times. I&G founder Dougal Sharp says the beer will continue to age in bottle and is likely to taste very different when opened -- though he admits he is unlikely to be around for the tasting. Pub campaigners in Surrey are battling to save the Cambridge Hotel from being sold to a property developer. It's the last pub standing on London Road, Camberley, where 16 pubs once stood. Members of the Surrey Hants Borders branch of CAMRA (pictured) are urging the local council to give the pub Asset of Community Value status that would allow the local community to attempt to raise funds to buy the pub

Figures produced by CAMRA -- the Campaign for Real Ale -- show that pub closures have fallen from 27 to 21 a week. The campaign says this is due to vigorous work at grassroots level (pictured) to save pubs, supported by the government's freeze on beer duty. But rural and suburban pubs are still at the sharp end of closures as new openings bring respite to the high streets

Exmoor Gold was meant to be one-off brew but it sparked a beer revolution in Britain 30 years ago. Other brewers rushed to make similar beers and Golden Ale is now a major British beer style. Jonathan Price (pictured) owns Exmoor Ales in Somerset and he was joined by local CAMRA members to celebrate the beer's 30th anniversary.

Oakham Brewery in Peterborough has swooped on the London pub scene with its award-winning Green Devil IPA. The beer, promoted on cabs, will be delivered fresh and direct from the brewery and will be available in outlets that can sign up to the Oakademy scheme that gives publicans direct access to all the brewery's beers

Stone Brewing of California, one of the leading American craft breweries, is opening a brewery, restaurant and beer garden in Berlin on the site of a former gas works. The aim is to transport fresh beer to all parts of Europe rather than importing them from the US. Founder Greg Koch says he chose Berlin because of its blossoming craft beer culture and says most of his beers will meet the demands of the German Beer Purity Law

Sour beers from the Bavik brewery in Belgium are based on a unique blonde base beer known as the Mother Beer that is used to blend and make an Old Brown and a Cherry Beer. The Aged Pale was never released for public consumption until in the 1990s beer writer Michael Jackson appealed to the De Brabandere family to make it available. It has gone on to win many world awards
