Pub that came back from the dead used to launch campaign against giant pubcos
The Jolly Angler in Reading was closed and boarded up by enterprise Inns. Now it's a flourishing pub free of the pubco tie. It was used as the launch pad for a major campaign that seeks a fair deal for tenants struggling with high prices and rents at the hands of the giant pubcos

Starting this weekend, May will see a number of key beer talks and tastings, several featuring Roger Protz, including the Lord Clifden in Birmingham (pictured), Elgood's Brewery in Wisbech, and Meantime in Greenwich.. Meantime Brewery is joining forces with Young's pubs in London and Surrey for a series of beer-and-food events in May

Mulholland feted as campaigner of the year

McEwan's sees Red in Scotland
McEwan's beer, for long sidelined in Scotland, is making a comeback under new owners Wells & Young's. But the new 'smoothflow' McEwan's Red is a long way removed from the legendary 80 Shilling sold at the equally legendary Athletic Arms -- the Diggers -- in Edinburgh. There's 80 Bob on the bar but it's a house beer brewed by Stewart's of Loanhead

Top American pale ale sets sail for Britain
