Mulholland feted as campaigner of the year

The Ivy House in Nunhead, south London, which has featured such music stars as Elvis Costello and Joe Strummer, has been saved by local people after giant pub company Enterprise Inns sold it. An action group got backing from English Heritage, which listed the building, and financial support from the Architectural Heritage Fund

Wetherspoons to slash beer prices
In the wake of last week's budget decrease in beer duty and the scrapping of the duty escalator, the Wetherspoon pub chain will cut the price of its beer. But founder Tim Martin (pictured) is also calling for a reduction in VAT so pubs can compete more favourably with supermarkets
