Two new IPAs from Greene King

Added: Sunday, March 23rd 2025

Double Header

Greene King is launching two new beers this March as part of its growing portfolio of cask and craft beers.

Double Header, 6.4 per cent, is a double dry hopped IPA that celebrates King Edmund of the East Angles who in 869 AD was beheaded by invading Vikings. According to a local legend a ghostly wolf re-attached the king’s head to his body and a saint was born. Bury St Edmunds marks his resting place and the home of Greene King’s brewery.

The beer has fruity and citrus flavours.

The second beer, Imperial IPA, 6 per cent, reflects the strength of the original IPAs of Victorian times. It’s based on a recipe found in the brewery archives.

It has a rich malty flavour with notes of tropical fruit and toffee notes.

Double Header in can and Imperial IPA in bottle will be on sale in branches of Morrisons, along with draught beers in pubs.
