Ayo Akintola, managing director of Oddbins, saysd: “We are currently enjoying a golden age in British brewing. There are a multitude of smaller craft ale producers who have completely reinvigorated the market. We are committed to working with all our suppliers to support this grassroots industry at a time when our customers are rapidly discovering the joys of tasty, locally-made craft beers.
The opening of the Blackheath store follows the roll-out of four different Oddbins branded ales, produced in partnership with some of the leading regional craft brewers in Britain. The initiative has proved successful in introducing craft ales to a new generation of customers.
Sales of locally-produced craft beers in Oddbins’ stores have risen by 37 per cent over the past 12 months. Many of the beers on offer at the Blackheath store will also be made available to consumers via www.oddbins.com.
