American brewers go for Gold in Denver

Some of the best commercial brewers in the United States have been awarded medals at the Great American Beer Festival, staged in Denver, Colorado.  Gold, silver and bronze awards covered more than 134 beer styles. The winners were chosen from 4,338 entries from 666 breweries from 48 states, Washington DC and Guam.

The highlights of the awards are:

American-style IPA

Silver: Barley Brown’s Brew Pub, Baker City, Oregon: Pallet Jack IPA

Bronze: Alpine Beer Co, Alpine, California: Duet

Imperial India Pale Ale

Silver: Bear Republic Brewing Co, Healdsburg, California: Cafe Racer 15

Bronze: Firestone Walker Brewing Co, Paso Robles, California: Double Jack

Herb & Spice Beer

Gold: Burnside Brewing Co, Portland, Oregon: Sweet Heat

Silver: Cambridge Brewing Co, Cambridge, Massachusetts: CBC Heather Ale

Bronze: Epic Brewing Co, Salt Lake City, Utah: Utah Sage Saison

American-style Strong Pale Ale

Gold: Thai Me Up Brewery, Jackson, Wyoming: Melvin

Silver: Lumberjack Brewing Co, Flagstaff, Arizona: Lumberyard IPA
