Gold medal beers pack a Punch

Three gold-medal cask beers will be featured in 1,000 Punch Taverns throughout the country for the Royal Jubilee bank holiday and for Euro 2012. The beers – Oakham Ales Citra from Peterborough, Hill Climb from the Prescott Brewery in Cheltenham and Salopian Brewery’s Lemon Dream from Salisbury – won gold in the National Beer Competition staged by SIBA, the Society of Independent Brewers, earlier this year.
The beers will be listed as part of Punch’s Finest Cask guest ales scheme, which features 18 award-winning beers in May and June.
SIBA Chief Executive Julian Grocock said: “We’re delighted that three of this year’s award-winning brewers are going to be on bars up and down the land at one of the busiest trading periods of the year.”
And Salopian’s Jake Douglas added: “It’s great opportunity to introduce our beer to a new audience. Lemon Dream is a light, clean-tasting beer that’s an ideal introduction to cask ale.”
