At a time when the beer world seems dominated by endless variations on the theme of IPA, it’s good to find a British brewery producing a vintage style.
Memento is a modern interpretation of Best Bitter, a style that dates from the late 19th century.
It’s brewed by Siren Craft Brew in Berkshire and is made with pale and cara malts with Admiral, Amarillo and Jester hops, with Cascade used to dry hop the beer following fermentation.
The beer is not filtered and is unfined. It has a nitro pour. The aroma and palate offer rich biscuit malt and caramel with grassy, herbal and citrus hop notes.
It’s full tasting and refreshing with a long bittersweet finish in which hops make a powerful impact.
