Northern Monk in Leeds has joined forces with Aunt Bessie’s, the major food retailing company, to produce a dessert beer that summons forth that old English pudding, jam roly poly. Along with malt and hops, the beer is infused with plum, apricot, jam and custard.

The hazy pink beer has a big hit of custard on the aroma, with rich fruit notes, creamy malt and a gentle hint of hops. Fruit dominates the palate but there’s a good balance of custard, rich malt and floral hops. The bittersweet finish has creamy malt, custard, fruit and floral hops. The beer avoids being sweet or cloying and is pleasingly refreshing.
