Style Lambic & Gueuze ABV 7.0%

HORAL Oude Geuze Megablend 2021 (7%)

HORAL is the High Council for Artisanal Lambic Beers, a Belgian organisation that defends the history and heritage of Lambic and Geuze beers that are made by wild or spontaneous fermentation. The group organises an annual tour of the member breweries but this has not been possible in 2020 or 2021 as a result of the pandemic and restrictions on travel in Belgium.

To make up for the loss, HORAL has produced a special megablend geuze made in collaboration by the following lambic brewers: Boon, De Cam, Lambik Fabriek, De Troch, Hanssens, Lindemans, Timmermans, Oud Beersel, Tilquin and Mort Subite.

The beer comes in an attractive green 75cl bottle with a cork and cradle. It has a hazy bronze colour with sour apple, wholemeal biscuits and floral notes on the aroma. Apple gives way to lemon on the palate with biscuit malt and delicate floral hop notes. Tart lemon fruit dominates the finish with continuing biscuit malt and floral, grassy and spicy hops.

The beer is available at £13.55 from Beer Merchants: www.beermerchants.com

•Lambic is a straight, unblended beer. Geuze or geueze is a blend of old and young lambics.
