Megawatt Double IPA, Brixton Brewery
Added: Friday, January 1st 2021
Style | IPA | ABV 8.0% |
The beer was first brewed to celebrate Brixton's 100th brew and is now released every December. It has 65 units of bitterness from Amarillo, Chinook, Loral Cryo and Simcoe hops. The grains are Low Colour Maris Otter malt with Munich malt and torrefied wheat.
It has a pale gol colour with a massive hit of citrus and pine on the nose with rich honeyed malt. Bitter hops, tart fruit, juicy malt and pine notes dominate the palate, followed by a bittersweet finish with a fine balance of malt, hoips and fruit.
Heineken has a stake in the brewery but it appears to be a benign relationship so far. Megawatt comes from the brewery as a 12 pack for £40.
