Style Golden Ale ABV 5.0%

Little Valley Tod’s Blonde (5%)

Little Valley Brewery enjoys a spectacular setting outside Hebden Bridge with views of the Yorkshire moors and the Pennines beyond. It was founded by Sue Cooper and Dutch master brewer Wim van der Spek and specialises in organic beers.

Tod’s Blonde was developed with the Vegan Society as a beer that be enjoyed by vegans and vegetarians as it contains no animal products such as isinglass finings made from fish.

The beer is bottle conditioned and is brewed with pale malt only and hopped with Perle and Hallertauer Spalter Select hops. It takes its name from the nearby town of Todmorden, known to locals as just “Tod”.

The beer is exceptionally pale and throws a big fluffy head of foam. It has honeyed malt on the nose with peppery hops and notes of elderflower and cinnamon. Bitter hops grow in the mouth but are balanced by juicy malt and spices. The finish is complex and dry and bitter but there are continuing notes of lightly toasted honey malt and spices.

It’s a wonderfully refreshing beer, ideal for summer drinking.

The beer is available in selected branches of Booths, Morrisons, Co-op and Waitrose, Oasis in Hebden Bridge, TJ’s off-licence, Todmorden, and Unicorn, Manchester. It can ordered online, 12 bottles for £39.95, from ww.littlevalleybrewery.co.uk/shop/tod-blonde
