Style Pale Ale ABV 6.0%

Badger An American Venture 6%

Hall & Woodhouse, the family-owned brewery in Blandford Forum, Dorset, dating from 1777 – famous for its Badger beers – proves that traditional companies are not living in the past with the first in a Limited Series labelled Across the Pond. The series acknowledges the impact American craft beer has had in Britain.

An American Venture is modelled on the West Coast pale ale style and is made with Amarillo, Cascade and Mosaic hop varieties. Pale malt is joined by such darker grains as Vienna, Munich and caramalt.

The beer has a flaring deep bronze colour and a “sweet shop” aroma of candied fruits with peach, lemon and lime and a cinnamon spice note, along with rich bready malt. Bitter hops bounce across the tongue, balancing juicy/honey malt and continuing ripe fruit and spices.

The finish is dry and hoppy, with intense fruit and spice notes along with biscuit malt. It’s a wonderfully drinkable, refreshing and well-balanced beer, an object lesson in keeping malt and hops in harmony.

The beer is available from Waitrose and Ocado for £2.49.
